Illumination

Join us for a night of enchantment as we relive a time-honoured tradition at the Sharon Temple National Historic Site and Museum’s annual Illumination event. Beginning in 1831, the Children of Peace would welcome people from far and wide to a magical celebration on the first Friday in September. They would illuminate the Temple with countless candles, hold a mesmerizing concert, and conduct an Alms Giving service.

Today, we keep the magic alive by lighting the main floor of the Temple with beeswax candles and filling the air with captivating music. As you take in the awe-inspiring architecture of the building, you’ll be swept away by the spellbinding melodies at the event. And after the concert, we invite you to indulge in some refreshments on the lush lawn outside, where you can bask in the stunning views of the surroundings. The event takes place on Friday, September 8th, 2023, with gates opening at 7:30 pm.
